COMMUNITY

One of the reasons I started my business was so I could be an active member of the community.

This was important to me when we moved to the Barossa as I wanted to get to know the people and the place. I soon discovered that what makes this place unique is the generous community spirit.

Who wants to wait until retirement to get involved?

Since then, I’ve been involved with several boards and committees, including:

Romance Writers Australia – South Australia Liaison (since 2024)

Foundation Barossa – Board member (2017-2025) and Secretary (2021-2025)

Barossa Vintage Festival Parade – Committee member, 2015 and 2023

Echoes Basketball Club – committee member and treasurer (2016-2022)

Tanunda Hockey Club – committee member, communications and treasurer (2022-present)

Tanunda Kindy Governing Council – Chair (2015)

BUSINESS SUPPORT

I’m a service provider for Regional Development Australia Barossa, Gawler, Light and Adelaide Plains B2B program.

For a small fee, local businesses can access 3 hours of a local service provider (like me).  I provide 2 hours at a reduced rate and one hour free.

This has been a great opportunity to work with a wide range of businesses and build my network. And, I’m supporting new and established businesses to communicate their message, get found online and grow their businesses.

I’m also one of the ‘Compass Guides’ for Your Business Compass. Founded by entrepreneur Shelley Cox, the Your Business Compass provides support to micro and small businesses across regional Australia.

The membership includes digital resources, coaching, mentoring and free tools. There’s also a podcast, and in 2024, we launched our workshop.

Your Business Compass includes experts providing a range of support including:

  • Copywriting (that’s me)
  • Social media
  • Storytelling, branding and photography
  • Finance
  • Human resources and leadership
  • Business planning and organisation

I support several charities and fundraising initiatives both here in the Barossa and around Australia.

I’m proud to be one of the founding donors of the Barossa Women’s Artists Residency which launched in 2023.
